The lyrics of “Angel Maker” are mainly based on Amelia Dyer and Dagmar Overby: two “baby farmers” from the late 1800s and early 1900s. They are sadly not the only ones but surely two of the most famous ones. The first verse and pre-chorus is about Amelia of the UK and the second verse and pre-chorus is about Dagmar of Denmark. The chorus and breakdown is shared in general. Amelia is said to have killed between 200-400 infants, but only 6 were confirmed in court. She was executed by hanging in prison. Dagmar had a count of 9-25 murdered infants, 9 were confirmed in court. She was first sentenced to death but it was changed to life in prison where she later died.
